Other Details

Changes To Amateur 9-Ball Guidelines:

  • Any person that is not listed as an open player by their province or the CBSA can play in this discipline. An amateur can also play in the Open 9-Ball division if they qualify out of their Province (in the past, a person could not play in both divisions in the same year).
  • An Open Player List will be posted on this site before the championships. Please note that, due to the difficulty of putting together a comprehensive list, some players not initially included on the list could be denied entry into the Amateur division due to "known ability".

  • JACCS To Sponsor Junior 9-Ball Division:

  • After the passing of Scott Soroko last year, his family and friends formed the Junior Association of Canadian Cue Sports (JACCS), in his memory. Scott Soroko was the creator of the website Shooterville, and a true friend to all involved in Canadian cue sports. One of his biggest passions was helping out junior aged pool players anyway that he could.
  • With JACCS sponsoring the CBSA junior program, no sanction fees will have to be paid by any Canadian junior who wishes to play in the Canadian Junior 9-Ball championships. JACCS will pay the expenses to send our participants to the World championships each year. A great way to always remember a great person.

  • Direct Entry for Open 10-Ball

  • The Open 10-Ball Championships will again be a direct entry event -- sanction fees for any person that is not a member in good standing of their respective provincial association will not be accepted.

  • World Championship in Open 8 & 9-Ball

  • The World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA) have announced a World Championship in Open 9-Ball and 8-Ball this year, after being cancelled the last couple of years. The WPA has also started a World Team Championship. The results of the Canadian Championships will determine who will be representing Canada at these prestigious world events.
