WPA Women's World 9-Ball - Bryant Finishes 9th-16th
Brittany Bryant's impressive run at the Women's World 9-Ball Championships came to an end against Si Ming Chen of China. In their round-of-16 match, Bryant fell 9-7.
In a final 8 dominated by Asian players, Great Britian's Allison Fisher battled her way all to the final before falling 9-7 to this year's champion -- Xiao-Fang Fu of China.
WPA Women's World 9-Ball - Bryant Advances to Final 16
Brittany Bryant is on a roll at the Women's World 9-Ball Championship. Rebounding from a first round loss to American Sarah Rousey, she advanced to the tournament's single-elimination stage with B-side wins over Venezuela's Carlynn Sanchez (7-0) and Austria's Jasmin Ouschan (7-6). In her first match of the second stage, Bryant defeated Chai Zeet Huey of Singapore (9-7) to move on to the round of 16, where she will face China's Chen Siming.
Veronique Menard just missed advancing to stage two, after losing to Julie Kelly of Ireland (7-4) in a must-win B-side match earlier in the day.
WPA Women's World 9-Ball - Belanger out, Menard & Bryant on B-side
Results are in from the initial rounds of the Women's World 9-Ball Championship in Shenyang, China, and it has been a tough battle so far for all three Canadians.
Denise Belanger dropped her opening round match to Chen Xue of China (7-2), then fell 7-6 to Singapore's Hoe Shu Wah, eliminating her from the event. Brittany Bryant also lost her first match against Sarah Rousey of the USA (7-3), but rebounded with a 7-0 walk over Carlynn Sanchez of Venezuela. Bryant next faces Jasmin Ouschan of Austria. The final Canadian, Veronique Menard, fell 7-3 to Liu Shin-Mei of Taiwan in her first match, but defeated Bolivia's Nataly Villarroel 7-4 in her second. Her next opponent has yet to be determined.
